Winter Wonderland

We have Christmas lights, YEAH! Chris nearly died putting them up. So Chris gets off of work early and decides to surprise me and hang our Christmas lights. He's up on our roof and he steps down onto the ladder to climb down and oh shoot, the latter falls to the ground and Chris is left hanging off the roof! I am not there to yell to and so he's just hanging there as his life flashes before his life! Fortunately for Chris, our neighbor works at home and likes to spy on his neighbors (not really) from his second story office. He looks out his window and sees Chris hanging there and wants to know if everything is alright. Of course it's not, so he comes and rescues Chris. Mike saved Chris's life! But he couldn't prevent him from getting scratched all up his leg. For the rest of the evening all I heard is, "I almost died," and "Oh my leg, it hurts." Drama, drama, drama. We did get a lovely, festive house out of Chris's near death experience.

This is Chris. I just want to publicly thank Mike for saving my life. As I was hanging off the roof (okay, I may be exaggerating a little bit) and close to death, my life was flashing before my eyes. I got to thinking about my family and everything I take for granted. I was also thinking about how my foot and leg really hurts (the picture doesn't give it justice, it's really a laceration and probably needs medical attention). So if I die a sudden death, like falling off the roof and cracking my head open, then I want my family to know how much I love them and that I'll be watching over them.

I am so glad that you could sacrifice for the cause. Suck it up and come hang some for me!!!Maybe you could mow my lawn at the same time!!!!

Poor Fancy! Oh well, a small price to pay for surprising the wifey & having a festive house. The scratch looks very minor :)

I don't know...the angle of the pic of Chris's leg looks like an ostrich leg...because look how the foot is...forget the scratches...this is funny stuff! The house looks very festive and I'm sure Tater and Tucker LOVE them...thanks daddy for all you do for them!!! I think NOW would be a good time to ask Chris that question about "treats" from Neilsen's! Do the lights flash to music? j/k

oh my gosh!!! You had me laughing reading that, but it's NOT funny!! How scary! I'll have to tell Ty, he's been hanging lights and wants me to hold the ladder...and I'm like, "don't worry, the ladder's FINE!!" I guess I need to worry next time. Glad he is ok! I love your blog!

I agree with Cindy, I am totally laughing, but not really so funny. I'm glad he is ok and you have a fun house with lights. And a watchful neighbor.

Oh my, I was gone for like a week and have so much to catch up on as I stroll down Anderson Avenue :) First of all, you had me captivated with the leg picture. I'm glad you're husband survived and it also brought back many unpleasant memories--like the time Jason somehow convinced me to hold his hand to keep him from falling as he climbed out the window to change a burnt out light....

I hope I can post about a "sucessful" light hanging experience this year. I fear death of a husband every year. I love how you mock him with "drama, drama, drama"

Wow! What excitement and DRAMA! Always something at the Anderson home. But props to Chris for sacrificing his lovely leg in the name of Christmas spirit. Maybe if it was colder he would've been wearing pants and closed toe shoes??

Just to let everyone know Chris was crying all day at work as well. He limped most of the day, which is fine, if you’re actually hurt. (*friendly reminder* it was your right leg, quit limping on your left)

I am glad he made it out alive, let's see you are about 6'0 and with your extended arms about 7'0, your roof about 12, that would have been a wicked 4-5 foot drop...ouch... :)

You guys are frickin hilarious. Now listen, Chris...go do some PT at Sam's and you'll be okay. Stick that thing in the whirlpool. But I seriously hope you feel better soon and can't wait to see your lights. We're watching the ASU game right now....Trent wants to put up maroon and gold bulbs on our Christmas tree. Are you guys up for some cake batter icecream from Cold Stone on Mon night...FHE?
