Jersey's Special Day

Here she is on her blessing day, she's "dressed" as white as we could get her. White bracelet, white headband, and white blanket. In attendance: Grandma and Grandpa Anderson, Nonie and Papa Krieg, Bishop and Vonda Guttery, and of course Tatum and Tucker. Papa Krieg annointed her first with oil and Grandpa Sam sealed her annointing and gave her a beautiful blessing. Following that, the priesthood holders laid their hands on her head and her Daddy gave her a name and a blessing. It was a special evening for us. She's our princess.
She's scheduled for her big surgery tomorrow at 11 am, I am not ready for this. The doctors feel they are left with no other choice than to do her surgery ASAP. Every Tuesday all the pediatric cardiologists, ICU doctors, and surgeons have a big pow wow to discuss their little patients and Jersey was discussed this morning. I feel a little more at ease that it's not one doctor's decision when to do what it's a collective decision with all her doctors. I am SO scared, there's SO much that could easily go wrong. Her heart is incredibly tiny and to think of it being surgically operated on scares me to death. We're so blessed to have the knowledge we do and that the people who love her the very most were/are able to call on the power of heaven in her behalf. I know miracles happen every day and we definitely need one now. We know she's in the best of hands and can only pray that Heavenly Father takes over and guides those hands and sharpens the surgeons' minds.

She'll have the prayers of many tomorrow..
Prepare yourself for how she will come back, she will be a little 'beat up', even more so than now, but she will amaze you at how fast she will pull through and recover.. She'll be in your arms in no time.
I know how scared you are right now and my thoughts and prayers are with you.. Just tell yourself she can't get better without it. I always told myself also that there were angels with her the whole time and I KNOW that's true...
Love you guys.

Jersey is such a beautiful baby; I especially LOVE the hair! I feel so sad inside for her and all that she and you guys have to go through, but I know there must be SOME purpose. Our family is praying for her and her surgery. If there is ever ANYTHING I can do to help please let me know. This surgery will be on my mind until I hear the next update. Take care and I am thinking about you Heidi.

Hi Heidi - I'll be praying for Jersey tomorrow morning along with a lot of other people. It IS so scary before your little one goes in for surgery. Try to envision how sweet your time will be with her 1-2 weeks from now. Snuggles and soon....smiles! Try to get some sleep. I know, easier said than done.

Heidi, what will they be doing exactly for her surgery? Do they anticipate getting her heart repaired just in one surgery?

I hope you have some distractions lined up for you during her surgery. Some of ours are- a funny movie on a portable DVD, food, people to talk to. Those minutes while your baby's in surgery are the longest of your life. Staying positive, praying and having faith get you through it though.

Hope you could understand a word of my message yesterday. You know me- cry baby, cry baby. I've been checking in on you and Jersey many times a day for new updates.

Aloha fokisi!

You do not know me, I am a friend of Tanner and Avery's, my daughter is a heart baby also. Bela and Lily(my little girl) were born the same day. I am so sorry that you are having to go through all of this. She will be in my prayers. The H&L doctors are incredible, and I owe them my life twice over for saving my little girl. Jersey is in good hands, the best in my opinion.
I actually saw your little girl yesterday as I walked through the floor and visited with the nurses. She is a precious little girl. You have our prayers and I will be keeping my eye out for an update.

God Bless,
Jenna, Lilyanas mama

We are heart friends of Bela Milne. My prayers are with you ALL today!! It's not an easy road, but the blessings you will receive are SO easy to see! My heart aches for you as I know ALL to well the feeling of putting your baby in the surgeon's hands to work on that tiny heart of theirs. I always told myself that Heavenly Father has his arms wrapped tightly around them, comforting them, while they are going through SO much!!

NOTHING can prepare you for the sight of your baby post op, it's scary and heartbreaking. We'll pray for a quick recovery so you can hold your baby girl again soon!!

I, too, am another heart mom with an 8 month old baby girl, Maddie, HRHS (Pulmonary Atresia IVS). She too was born early...35 weeks, 4 days and weighed 5 lbs. 14 oz...so our girls are similar (right sided defects and little bitty's)! My prayers are with you today, it's so difficult watching our sweet baby's go through this. Just have faith and take it a minute at a time. And as Avery said, remind yourself that she HAS to go through this to survive and to be able to come home. It's heartbreaking but the truth. Hang in there and know that you're not alone. Welcome to the "heart world" too! Thinking of your sweet family today.
Love,
Katie & Maddie
